Celebrating International Womens Day

Endless support for International Womens Day – great to see people coming together to celebrate independent successful, strong women over the world and their struggles and journeys to get where they are today.
As a company headed up by own independent business woman Susan Backhouse today is definitely a cause for celebration!

Susan started Fashion Antidote intending to be an antidote to the lack of technically skilled workers in the fashion industry, to provide our students with an affordable and attainable alternative to existing fashion education, as access to employment and to fulfill their potential.

Today we have countless women (and men) come through our studio, picking up the skills in fashion and textiles they need to get head in their career, to get into higher education, or to start up their own small fashion businesses, and its inspiring to see them achieve their goals and get the most out of their sewing, making, designing and technical skills.

I hope we can continue to inspire and encourage women through our classes!

Our Courses:
We offer many different short courses in different deliveries - some over a few weeks in evening installments; some are one day – in a range of fashion skills. From Learn to Sew to alterations, moodboards to specification drawing, beginners pattern cutting to design a collection there is something for all levels and needs.

Our Summer School - a complete package of fashion skills from sewing and garment construction, pattern cutting, drawing and design and business and industry knowledge, taught at an industry level standard throughout the summer months.

Our Industry level skills Programme – longer than the majority of our courses, this is high quality tuition in a range of fashion skills, including garment construction, pattern cutting and design. Taught in small groups by our experienced tutors, this Programme allows you develop expert technique, and works in stages featuring garments such as the skirt, dress, bodice, jacket and trousers.
